Remembering a hero

Ulysses, I remember u!

The love for adventure that u are;

The quest for newer horizons

Untiring, unyielding, willful heart,

An eager soul that never got quenched.

Your national pride didn’t stain your mind;

Nor did the golden strings of your kin;

Tears dare not tear away your years of fulfillment.

I too had your spirit inside........once on a long past..

I found boats untied and driven away,

Oars broken and thrown to depths,

And swim, shamefully I never knew...

I stay back in the island which you left for good

I have the sweet company of people

Who blindly worship the ‘unequal laws ’.

Gratitude gurgles in most part of my days

I enjoy being the tamed wild beast of Ithaca.

I have buried alive a soul inside

The ghost of which escapes secretly

To give me pain, to watch me wither

I live in constant fear.

A weakling though,

With lack of character,

My poor soul makes me remember you,

And often do I wonder

What you found on your way?

What I could possibly have found,

Now the glimpses at least would please me

To think of a lost journey, a lost life

Ulysses , remembering you, I live back in time.
